S. America 4

Following another sea day - also happened to be Valentine’s Day - we stopped at Punta Del Este Uruguay a resort town with many hotels, casinos and restaurants. Argentinians and Brazilians come in the summer to spend money, lots of big yachts. This stop was added because we could not stop at the Falklands. We took a bus tour of the town.

Lighthouse
Famous sculpture called The Hand.

Home of artist who created The Hand, built over 50 years, now a hotel and museum. We did not go inside.

At the port in Montevideo.
An excursion we chose was an “Argentinian Meat Experience” held a a brew pub - 3 servings of the same cut from different breeds were served and five beer samples too. Lots of fun and tasty.

Passed this spot grilling meat, unfortunately had already eaten so had to pass.

This is from Buenas Aires, BOCA district, the poorest area, on the balcony Eva Peron and a local football star, the other guy is a politician.

Empanadas and other snacks.
Catholic cathedral in Buenas Aires, this was the Pope’s home church before moving to the Vatican.

Presidential palace in Buenas Aires, it’s pink because Eva Peron liked pink.

After a day in Buenas Aires we left Viking Jupiter for the last time, after 18 days the cruise was over, we left at 2:30 AM for a flight to Iguazu Falls, the largest waterfalls in the world, it’s massive, words and pictures cannot convey how large it is - there are over 275 separate falls, some considerably larger than Niagara. Visited a bird park there too.
Map of the bird park.
