Galapagos
Various pics from first days of trip, in no particular order as I am not good at blogging. Eating lots of fish and plantains, served at every meal. Ceviche common too. Some rain most days but not hard, not slowing thing down at all just getting clothes damp and impossible to dry.
Fish, rice plantain and avocado.Officer trainee at iguana park. I have no clue what the thought was for this.
Many iguanas, up to 4 feet long, they go where they want. Not unusual for them to be in the road enjoying the heat of the warmed road.
Cathedral in Guayaquil, could not go in due to a service in progress while we visited iguana park across the street.
Ecuador exports flowers, 2nd largest exporter of roses.
Visited a market with fruits, veggies , seafood and meats. Loads of meat hanging in the open, never saw a cube of ice, no unpleasant odors either. All looked fresh and appetizing, very few flies.
Susan happy with her menu selection, this was our first night after arriving in Guayaquil, the capital and area most impacted by recent unrest. We walked a few blocks to a recommended restaurant. We planned to take a cab back as we were advised against walking after dark. There was a downpour as we left and cabs unavailable, the restaurant owner drove us to our hotel and refused a tip, a great kindness and example of most Ecuadorians. After being here a few days I feel the risk is low although personal property must be well tended
